A northern cardinal sits on a snow-dusted pine branch, tail down, crest up, with two heavy pinecones hanging below him and berry sprigs breaking across the frame, all of it laid over the ghost of a French botanical page: looping handwriting, a ruled grid, a smudged postal cancel and a scatter of ink flecks. The panel measures 3.45 by 4.2 inches, which covers an A2 front in one impression and leaves a clean margin. Two script sentiments come with it, "Season's greetings with warmest wishes." at 2.15 by 0.4 and "Wishing you moments of peace, joy and wonder." at 2.45 by 0.45, sized to run above and below the panel exactly as they do on the packaging. It is the quiet Christmas card, the one for a sympathy-adjacent December note or for a friend who does not want anything cartoon. Ink it once in a warm sepia or a deep green and let the ledger texture do the aging for you.

Stillness & Song: Background of the Month (October 2026)
A hand-engraved northern cardinal perches on a snowy pine branch with two large pinecones and berry sprigs, set over the faded script and ruled grid of an old French ledger page complete with a postal cancel. The cross marks scattered through the panel are part of the vintage ephemera look, not registration marks. Layer it, blend over it, or stamp it once and be finished.
- Cardinal on a snowy pine branch over vintage French script measures approximately 3.45" x 4.2".
- “Season's greetings with warmest wishes.” sentiment measures approximately 2.15" x 0.4".
- “Wishing you moments of peace, joy and wonder.” sentiment measures approximately 2.45" x 0.45".
Perfect for Christmas card fronts, winter birding and nature cards, holiday junk journal spreads, layered vintage scenes, and a December note that needs to be gentle rather than jolly.
