Rubber Stamps for Card Making

Since 2007, Unity Stamp Co has made red rubber stamps the old-fashioned way: hand-drawn by real artists, deeply etched, and manufactured start to finish in our New London, Minnesota shop. More than 2,000 stamp sets live here: sentiments, critters, florals, backgrounds and full scenes. Every one of them is cut from the same deeply etched red rubber that stamps crisp on the first impression and the five hundredth.

Why red rubber

Red rubber is the traditional card-making medium, and it earns its keep. Deep etching means the design sits well above the shoulder of the rubber, so ink lands only where you want it and fine lines stay open instead of filling in. It grips ink evenly, releases cleanly, and holds detail that finer materials tend to soften. It is also forgiving: a little too much pressure, a slightly uneven block, a well-loved cushion. Red rubber absorbs all of it and still gives you a clean image.

The practical upside is longevity. Rubber does not yellow, curl at the edges, or go tacky in a warm craft room. Sets bought in 2010 are still in rotation on our customers' desks, which is the whole point of buying tools instead of supplies.

Cling-mounted and block-ready

Every Unity set arrives cling-mounted on black foam, ready to press onto any acrylic block. Nothing to trim, no adhesive to fuss with, no wood to store. Press the stamp onto a block, stamp your image, then peel it back off. The cling holds without glue and lets go without a fight.

Cling mounting is also what makes these sets MISTI-friendly. Because the stamp sits flat and repositions cleanly, you can lift, re-ink and stamp the exact same spot again, which is the trick behind solid, streak-free coverage on dark cardstock. If you ever need to re-mount an older wood or unmounted stamp, we sell the same cling foam by the sheet.

Find your set

Three ways in, depending on how you shop. Shop by occasion when you know what the card is for: birthday, Christmas, sympathy, thank you, wedding, graduation. Shop by theme when you are building a stash: cats, dogs, florals, backgrounds, funny. Or shop by artist and follow a drawing style you already love through their whole collection.

Beyond cards: rubber stamps for crafts of every kind

Card making is where most of our customers start, but a good stamp set does not stay in one lane. The same rubber stamps show up in scrapbook layouts and pocket pages, junk journals and art journals, planner spreads, recipe cards and place settings. Crafters stamp their own gift wrap on plain kraft paper, run tags for jars of jam and cookie tins, decorate envelopes and snail-mail flat lays, and press background stamps into air-dry clay and polymer for ornaments and pendants.

With the right ink, red rubber goes onto more than paper: fabric ink for tea towels and tote bags, permanent ink for glass and metal, archival ink for anything you want to watercolor over. Larger images and background panels are the workhorses here. They cover ground fast and give you something to layer on top of.

Dies, cut files and the rest of the kit

Most of our stamp sets pair with coordinating dies cut to the artwork, so you can stamp an image and cut it out without fussy scissor work. Prefer a cutting machine? The same shapes are available as digital cut files. Round it out with inks and stamp cleaners, embossing powder and cardstock and pattern paper from the same shelf.

New to stamping? Start here

You need three things: a stamp set, an acrylic block a little larger than your image, and a dye or pigment ink pad. That is genuinely it. Press the cling-mounted stamp onto the block, tap (do not grind) the ink pad over the rubber until the design is evenly coated, set the block down on your cardstock, apply firm even pressure straight down, and lift.

Two beginner mistakes worth skipping: rocking the block, which double-images the edges, and over-inking, which fills in the fine lines. If your impression comes out patchy, put a piece of copy paper or a mouse pad under the cardstock as a cushion and try again. Stuck on what to write? Caring for red rubber

Clean stamps after each color with a baby wipe or a dedicated stamp cleaner, then dry them on a scrap of paper towel. Pigment and permanent inks want a proper cleaner rather than water. Let the cling foam dry fully before you put a set away, keep them out of direct sunlight, and store them flat. Do that much and a set will outlast the card stock you bought it for.

Common questions

Do I need a special block? No. Any acrylic block works. Pick one slightly larger than the stamp so you have something to hold.

What ink should I use? Dye inks for everyday stamping and watercoloring, pigment inks when you want a slower-drying, opaque impression or plan to heat emboss.

Can I use these in a stamping platform? Yes. Cling-mounted rubber repositions cleanly, which is exactly what a MISTI or similar platform is built around.

Are the stamps made in the USA? Yes. Drawn, etched, cut and packed in New London, Minnesota, and shipped from the same building.

How big are the sets? It varies by set; every product page lists the individual stamp measurements so you can check against your block and card size before you buy.

Do you sell wholesale? We work with international stockists. We do not currently take on domestic wholesale accounts, but if you are a shop outside the US, get in touch and we will point you to the right person.
