A cat rears up on its hind legs with one paw stretched high after a butterfly, its whole body a solid black silhouette set in a tangle of meadow grasses, seed heads and a dozen more butterflies lifting around it. There is no sentiment, so it takes a birthday pun, a pet-sympathy line or just the cat’s name. The kitty measures about 2.25 by 3.5 inches, which fills an A2 card front in one impression. Stamp it in crisp solid black on white or kraft with firm, even pressure, and skip the coloring; a few of the butterflies picked out in gold is the most it wants.
