Description
How quiet can a Christmas card be? This one is a swaddled baby asleep on a heap of hay in a rough wooden manger, a faint halo behind his head, while a star in a weathered stable window sends a dashed beam of light down across him. The window, the rays and the manger are all one stamp, 2.65 by 2.2 inches, so the whole scene lands in a single impression and always lines up. The script sentiment, "O come let us adore Him," is 1.4 by 0.65 and sits above the window or inside the card, which makes this an easy one for the church card list or the grandparent who keeps faith at the center of December. The hay is full of fine strokes, so use a dye ink with a light hand and press straight down rather than rocking the block.
