“Sorry things have been ruff lately” is stacked in tall capitals beside Mazie, a wrinkly bulldog puppy lying flat with her chin up and her front paws spread, drawn in fine cross-hatched pen. She is part of Unity’s Rescue Tales collection, and the puppy measures approximately 3 by 3 inches, with the sentiment at approximately .25 by 1.75 inches and a small boxed “Sending love” to finish the card. There is a tiny heart floating above her head that is worth coloring red. Reach for her when a friend is having a hard month and a formal sympathy card would feel like too much.
